Balashi didn’t begin as a brand.

It was always about the people.

It began as seawater turned pure, as workers with grit in their hands, as friends raising a cold glass at day’s end. Today, that story has a home: the Balashi Beer Experience, where Aruba’s history becomes something you can taste.

Aruba Is Balashi

Aruba didn’t have freshwater sources waiting around for a brewery. So Balashi Beer started the Aruban way: by getting resourceful.

We brew Balashi Beer with desalinated seawater, giving every glass a base that literally comes from the island itself. Malt from Scotland and hops from Germany add depth, but Aruba gives the beer its identity.

That’s why Balashi belongs to Aruba. It’s the bottle opened after a long shift, the beer passed around at backyard gatherings, and cracked cold after the kind of beach day only Aruba can give you.

Balashi doesn’t borrow from the island’s culture. It is the culture.

What Made Balashi

A Drink Born of Island & Sea

Balashi was born of challenge as much as tradition. On an island where resources run scarce, Arubans turned to innovation, transforming seawater into the pure base for our beer. That spirit of problem-solving is in every pour: crisp, clean, and distinctly local.

An Aruban Tradition

For more than two decades, Balashi Beer has been a part of Aruba’s biggest celebrations and quietest evenings. From street festivals to family cookouts, Balashi beer shows up wherever Aruba comes together. Brewing has changed, technology has advanced, but the spirit remains the same: every batch made to match the rhythm of life on the island.

A Community Staple

To many islanders, Balashi signals the end of the day. It’s the bottle cracked open after a long shift, the 5 o’clock beer that turns the end of the work week into a weekend celebration. In backyards and beach shacks, it’s shared as freely as stories, binding friends and families together.

A Name Spoken by the Sea

The word Balashi comes from Papiamento, meaning “near the sea.” The name itself holds Aruba’s identity—ocean close at hand, stories close at heart, and tradition alive in every sip.
